Being hunted by 23 lions, the buffalo made a crazy decision that cost it his life

While on a tour in the Ngala private reserve in Kruger National Park, field guide Roan du Plessis and his visitors encountered a herd of lions teaming up to take down a wild buffalo. At first, they followed a herd of Birmingham lions and saw their young. When they got back to the car, they heard the pitiful cry of a wild buffalo. They rushed to the place and found 23 lions surrounding the buffalo.

However, instead of entrenched in the lake, the lone buffalo made the crazy decision to rush ashore to find a way to escape. Soon after, it was overtaken by the lions. Some lions try to grip their prey so that their fellows suffocate it. Several male buffaloes returned to try to drive the lions away but failed.

One of the older lionesses did not hesitate, but continued to bite the buffalo’s nose. In the end, the lions also won and successfully chased away the male buffalo group. They surrounded the buffalo carcass to share the spoils, and the meal lasted until the afternoon.
